Why We Launched lizzyAI

After interviewing thousands of candidates and building hiring systems for more than 15 years - including 10 years in HR tech at LinkedIn and CoachHub - I realized something uncomfortable:
Hiring is still more art than science.

Despite all the frameworks, training, and research, most interviews come down to human instinct. We all try to follow HR’s structured, consistent, and fair process - but the reality is, we don’t always do it. Some days we stick to the guide. Other days we improvise, follow a hunch, or let small talk take over. We drift.

It’s not out of bad intent - it’s simply how humans work. But it means the same role, at the same company, can be assessed in ten different ways depending on who’s in the room.

That’s not predictable, scalable, or scientific.

And when hiring the right people is the single most important task of any leader, “gut feeling” just isn’t good enough.

The Moment AI Changed Everything

Then conversational AI arrived - and it was clear everything was about to change.

For the first time, we can replicate our best interviewers and scale them globally.
An AI that never gets tired, impatient, or biased. That always asks consistent, relevant, and compliant questions. That deeply understands your company, culture, and every role - and learns from millions of interviews to get smarter over time.

An interviewer that focuses purely on what matters: skills, experience, and potential.

With lizzyAI, every candidate - no matter where they’re from or how their résumé looks - gets the chance to tell their story through a full, in-depth interview, 24/7. Companies save millions in pre-screening while giving every applicant a fair shot.

Humans Will Always Be Central

We’re not here to replace the human in hiring - and we never will be.
Human intuition, empathy, and connection are irreplaceable when it comes to culture fit, motivation, and final decisions.

What we’re doing is adding a new scientific layer on top of human judgment - one that ensures every candidate is evaluated consistently, fairly, and without bias before human interviewers step in. This combination of AI precision and human insight is what makes hiring both scalable and deeply human at the same time.

Building the Team to Make It Real

I was lucky to reconnect with Pedro Cabrera, my former SVP of AI at CoachHub. After leaving CoachHub a few months earlier to explore new challenges, Pedro joined lizzyAI as our Founding CTO. He brings over 15 years of experience leading AI teams, including building AIMY - CoachHub’s conversational AI coach - which makes him one of the world’s most experienced builders of AI-driven dialogue systems.

With Prof. Belen García, a senior HR executive (Korn Ferry, SoftBank, United Nations) and psychologist, we’re grounding lizzyAI in solid behavioral science and validated assessment methods.

Our team of 14 across product, engineering, and GTM is shipping fast and pushing new enterprise-ready features every week. From high-volume hourly roles in hospitality, manufacturing, and retail, to complex professional roles such as software developers, sales representatives, and managers, some of the world’s most recognized companies are already using lizzyAI - and new ones join every week.

The Future of Hiring

We believe AI interviews will become the global standard for how companies hire - fairer, faster, and more predictive than anything before.

That’s why today we’re proud to announce our $5M seed round led by NEA, the investors behind Salesforce, Workday, and ServiceNow.

This funding will help us expand our AI and product teams, deepen integrations with leading ATS systems, and bring lizzyAI to even more companies worldwide.

In a few years, it will feel strange that we ever relied on human-only interviews to make such critical decisions. We’re building the foundation for a new era - one where every interview is consistent, intelligent, and fair.
